My ultimate goal is to create and use cutting-edge CRISPR tools to investigate how the brain develops, and how genetics can affect brain development. My dream is the use a combination of different animal models (rodents, non-human primates, etc.) to investigate how genetic mutations lead to neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric disorders. How do changes in gene dosage affect circuit wiring that can lead to neuropsychiatric disorders? How can we better model polygenic diseases like schizophrenia?
